Same old gameReader comment on item: In 1796, U.S. Vowed Friendliness With Islam Submitted by David Sabghir (United States), Nov 8, 2006 at 00:47 The US treaty was meaningless other than to allegedly resolve the matter of Barbary Pirates. However, any interpretation beyond that involves wishful thinking as it was a unilateral document as written. Although, the US was established on a philosophy of tolerance, Islam's primary documents and history clearly represent the opposite. To expect anything else is unrealistic, whether in 1796 or 2006.
