Why 2006 is a different story

Reader comment on item: In 1796, U.S. Vowed Friendliness With Islam
in response to reader comment: radical islam existed also in 1796

In 1796, globalism didn't exist. In 1796, there were hardly any Muslims in the Americas and in Europe. In 1796, there were no airplanes, mobile phones, internet connections etc. 2006 is a completely different story. Nowadays, there are Muslims everywhere. Yes, Sidda, it is not just the Europeans who let Muslims in, it is your country as well. I mean, Sidda thinks that only Europeans are weak.

Anyway, in 1776, there was no Al-Jazeera. Liberalism was not a powerful ideology and multiculturalism was unheard of. Now, I am very consistent in that I see the home-front as more important than anything else. Back in 1776, nations were not as vulnerable as they are today. Hence, the chance to make friends with Muslim countries.

Back then, there was no mass-migration to Europe, no multicultural policies and the world was much safer. Now, by inviting millions of Muslims to join us in the west, we are all becoming like Israel. For those who have been living in the moon over the past 60 years, Israel is surrounded by enemies. 2006 is different. If you are an Arab-American living in Detroit, you can watch Al-Jazeera every day, and get that kind of propaganda. You can phone your brother in Syria and hear more anti-western propaganda. I don't think the conditions of 1796 are in place anymore.
