the simple fact is that a vast majority of indians support the west in its battle against the islamist threat. But having a 100 million strong muslim minority leads to the political class trying to pander to their anit-american sentiment. but in recent times the tide has turned especially after terrorist attacks on india's parliament, its stock exchange and its trains.

so there is a growing consensus, that - when the chips are down, india is with the west.
