What makes them so special!

Reader comment on item: Is Campus Watch Part of a Conspiracy? [On Mearsheimer-Walt and "The Israeli Lobby"]
in response to reader comment: Lobbies

Mr. Cervantes:

I'm not exactly who is "them", the Israeli lobby or other lobbies. Given that you used the plural, I assume you are talking about lobbies other than the Israeli lobby. Because I'm just a tad bit confused, I'll try to respond to your message on the periphery because you bring up an interesting point about other lobbies which needs to be tied to Dr. Pipes and the Mearsheimer/Walt report.

Indeed, there is a Japan lobby, a Saudi lobby, a Dairy lobby etc.

1) If Dan Pipes says he likes ice cream, is he a member of the Dairy lobby?

2) If Dan Pipes says he thinks that Japan should be a sovereign, independent, democratic and safe nation for Japanese people, is he a member of the Japan lobby?

3) If Dan Pipes says he thinks it was a good idea to send troops to Saudi Arabia in 1991 to protect it from an Iraqi invasion, is he a member of the Saudi lobby?

Of course not!

That begs the question: How did Daniel Pipes become a member of Mearsheimer's and Walt's "Israel Lobby"?
