I seem to disagree with you about the Arabs being a people, because they are not really a people, or a nation, the Arabs are the nomads who lived in Arabia, they are many, tribes or peoples. There are Arabic speaking countries and not all of them are Arabs ethnically. The term Arab could properly describe the Saudis and the Arab Gulf states.

Not all the Arabic speaking states except for those in the Gulf could be correctly described as Arabs. Even though a lot of people like to think that they are Arabs for some reason and that reason is related to the history of the Arab conquest and Islam, and this is very evident primarily in Sunni Islam.

However, looking at the paranoia of the mad man in Iran Ahmadenijad, which is extended to countries like Lebanon with the proxy mini state of Hezbollah, it is clear that this paranoia is actually cooked in Iran and especially after the end of Saddam’s regime. Today we have Iranian paranoia that is worst than the Arab one since the Arab one is being contained, I think.

My only concern with the utilization of such generalizations in our terminology is that it alienates some Arabs and Muslims who actually support Israel and the United States.
