Reader comment on item: Islam and Islamism - Faith and Ideology

Submitted by Shivkumar Singh (United States), Feb 14, 2006 at 17:39

... By Islam is Dr Pipes alluding to Traditional Muslims like Talibs that ruled Afghanistan on the basis of - Quran, Sunnath and Shariah?

The construct that ...introduces a non existent ideology called Peaceful/Moderate Islam. The intellectuals and arm chair critics would do well to avoid constructs like Islamism if it is meant to represent something other than Islam.

Islam sucks whether you call it Moderate Islam or Islamism. If you want to create a construct called Islamism the following is the only paradigm based on ground reality.

Moderate Islam - Practitioners of this are apologists for Islamism; those who defend and rationalise why Islamists are carrying out what they do.

Islamism - Practitioners of these are ground soldiers of Islam that actually carry out terror acts.

Apostasy - Anyone who dares to critically examine Muslims is rapidly and relentlessly terrorised and have to live in constant fear. These are Muslims - (I would like to call them Apostate Muslims) like Ali Sina or Salman Rushdie, few in number who are the Muslims that can yet save misguided Muslims that practise Moderate Islam by converting them to Apostasy.

Those that practise moderate Islam are more dangerous than Islamists as they deploy scholastic means to present a face of reasonableness on an obnoxious totalitarian ideology.

Western world in conjunction with powers like Russia, China, India can still fix the problem of Islam. The delay will increase the cost of fixing this evil.
