Reader comment on item: Islamophobia?

Submitted by Arnold Fishman (United States), Oct 26, 2005 at 14:58

quoted from one of your astute readers:

"Sooner or later, "moderate" Islam must find the means to confront it's radical wing. If not, it too will be, sadly, affected by an inevitable confligration that is the logical outcome of escalating violence."

Agreed. If moderate Muslims do not confront the radical side of its own people, then there will arise a greater power in the world that will do so... whether it comes from a re-created One-world authoritarian wielding UN with real iron teeth or from a revived roman catholic crusade led by the pope or from a composite of Westernized nations... it will surely come to it.

Or on the other hand, the US and its allies may try another way by re-invisioning "democratic-values" and "modern-secular education systems" into the mainstream of the muslim world like what is going in Qatar. This would be a westernized version of the "long march through the institutions" as the communists promised they would do here.
