One WordReader comment on item: Palestinian Word Games Submitted by Ben (United States), Jan 4, 2005 at 13:10 Terrorist.... If I think of Palestine, I think about terrorist training camps. On the word "terrorist", Israelis have shown a good deal of resolution. I agree this may be unfair to an extent. But what have the Palestinians given to the world? Terrorism, with a little bit of totalitarianism, showmanship, and PR. On the side, they have demonstrated a few billion dollars of corruption and hundreds of violated peace accords. Arafat, the founder of the modern Palestinian cause, was a terrorist. The elections are esentially between Hamas (who is boycotting) and Fatah, two terrorist groups. The election is about how much terrorism should happen. Israel, on the other hand, can be said to be fighting terrorism. An ally in the war on terror. A country beset by terrorists. Isn't it said that Israel is a country that knows useful tactics for fighting terrorists? Should Israel "win" against Palestinian attempts to destroy, split, weaken, over-populate, replace, or overthrow it, terrorism will play a major role. The war against terrorism is more than simply a war on Al Qaeda. It is an attempt to de-legitimize all causes that resort to violence agianst civilians. By the way, Mr. Pipes, will you run for congress? Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
