What prevents Arabs from recognizing IsraelReader comment on item: Palestinian Word Games Submitted by Hari Iyer (United States), Jan 8, 2005 at 18:46 What prevents Arabs, namely Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iran and the likes including Pakistan from recognizing Israel based on its "1967"border?After all, all these countries, keep lamenting that "if only" Israel withdraws to its pre-1967 borders then everything will be fine. As a good faith effort, our State Department should ask these countries of two things: 1. Recognize Israel based on its "pre-1967 border: 2. Establish secular one-person-one vote democracies in all these countries before they seek US help in any sort of negotiation with Israel. That means giving women equal opportunities and equal rights in these countries. Let these countries clamour to provide better rights than Israel. I know, I know, these countries will shy away from recognizing Israel even with its "pre-1967 border" because than that would mean they have to recognize Israel's right to exist and we can call their LIE.
