What about (1) war vs. conflict and (2) Palestinian Arabs vs. Palestinians?Reader comment on item: Palestinian Word Games Submitted by Jonathan Rick (United States), Jan 5, 2005 at 07:49 Thank you Dr. Pipes for this much-needed and excellent explainer. Two suggestions:1. In this essay, Dr. Pipes refers not to the Palestinian people but to Palestinian Arabs. This discrepancy interests me. 2. In his lecture at Hamilton College in 2003, Dr. Pipes argued that the so-called cycle of violence between the Israelis and Arabs is, in fact, a war—"with all that that implies." See http://www.danielpipes.org/article/1046. Jonathan Rick http://students.hamilton.edu/2005/jrick/ Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate. For complete regulations, see the "Guidelines for Reader Comments". Daniel Pipes replies: I use the term "Palestinians" and the New York Sun changes this, in accord with its house style, to "Palestinian Arabs."DP Comment on this item
