Avraham Burg - don't waste your proverbial ink on him.

Reader comment on item: Immanuel Kant vs. Israel

Dear Daniel,

As always, I appreciate your insight into a whole slew of issues, let me now offer you something in return:

The Jewish ancient sages had a saying in Aramaic: "Istera be'lagina kish kish karya". Free translation: "a single coin in a jar makes a lot of noise". I have known Avraham Burg (from a distance) since the time we served in the same paratrooper unit – I hate to say how many years ago. I always asked myself why this noisy empty jar has received so much attention over the years, especially in a country full of very smart people. Possible answers: a. perhaps I am overestimating the smarts in the country, b. he started off with a lot of credit due to his father (Yossef Burg – leader of the National Religious Party and cabinet minister for many years) and subsequently inertia just took over.

My advice at any rate is: please don't waste your time on a discredited, corrupt (see failed attempt to front criminal elements in acquiring a security equipment company) windbag whose purpose in life since his last business failure is to draw attention to himself by riding the sexy post-Zionist wave.
