Paradigm shift not worth a dime

Reader comment on item: Immanuel Kant vs. Israel

Thomas Kuhn believed that "truth" and "knowledge" are contained in the paradigm. It's all relative. There is no truth or knowledge outside the "scientific community". The scientist as well as the historian have one job and that is the pursuit of truth. If not then Lysenko's biology or Hitler's race theory were the reigning paradigms of the times. If you think that Kuhn stated anything new you're wrong. Oswald Spengler in his Decline of the West spouted the same kind of nonsense. Kuhn has shifted the discussion outside the realm of evidence and logic where science resides into the domain of sociology. Part of the reason that the West is so screwed up lies on the doorstep of dfsPopper-Kuhn-Lakatos-Feyerabend. It leads to "Anything Goes" science. For a thorough refutation read Keith Windschuttle"s book "The Killing of History".
