It´s not shifting deelings towards the national state, but new realities

Reader comment on item: Immanuel Kant vs. Israel

Unfortunately, mr. Pipes is wrong, if he believes, that shifting western strategy towards the Middle East is caused by a shift in feelings towards the national state.

The real reason is, that western power has been switchibg dramatically since the Balfour declaration and the creation of Israel.

In those days, western powers were overwhelmingly strong in technology and manpower, but not any more.

Therefore more and more westerners give in on issues, which are not immediately vital to the west, such as Israel, Afghanistan and Iraq.

This is of couse betrayal on friends, så therefore westerners need a hypocritical apology. This they achieve, by calling Israel aggressive and worse than Nazi-Germany.

Just the same tactics were used, when giving up in Vietnam, during the Cold War and when collaborating with Hitler before WW II.

Of course, such tactics are always insane, but betraying your friends is always bad tactic and therefore insane.
