British rule in EgyptReader comment on item: The Roots of Iraq's Rebellion Submitted by Paul Savitz (United States), Apr 22, 2004 at 15:52 Great Britain ruled Egypt for a very long time (over a hundred years, I think) with significant success. Why can't we emulate whatever their behavior was in order to work successfully with the new Iraqi governing council and the Iraqis themselves? What did the British do that made them more successful in Egypt than other European countries were in various Muslim lands?Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
