Iraqi enterpriseReader comment on item: The Roots of Iraq's Rebellion Submitted by Ilya Zwieback (United States), Apr 16, 2004 at 21:44 To the point, Dr. Pipes, as always!I would like just to comment that it seems the entire Iraqi enterprise has been misguided from the start. In Saddam's Iraq the Sunnis were the oppressors and the Shiites were the oppressed, and, naturally, we sided with the oppressed. It is clear now that sooner or later the Shiite majority will come to power, no matter who make it to the top, radical al Sadr, "moderate" Sistani or somebody else. The end result of this can be dramatically increased influence and powers of Iran. From that standpoint Sunnis appear to be our natural allies, and I think we need them and we need them now. Before it is too late, we must start talking to them instead of shooting. But maybe it's already too late.
