The Arab curse of having no decent leadershipReader comment on item: Why Oslo's Hopes Turned to Dust Submitted by David Hersch (South Africa), Sep 10, 2003 at 06:35 You have covered Arafat many times. The Palestinians and the Arabs have never been blessed with a decent leadership. Anwar Sadat may have been an exception, but then look what happened to him.The time will come when the Palestinian Arabs will come to curse the name of Arafat, his delusions of being a latter day Saladin with dreams of conquering Israel when all the other Arabs countries together could not, his thugocracy and kleptocracy and his complete lack of caring for his own people ever. He has given them a legacy that they will not recover from in generations. Mr Pipes, you are quite correct. The only solution is total and complete defeat and an insistence on unconditional surrender, as the Allies insisted on from Germany after WWII. It applies to every aspect of dealing with Islam belligerency, Al Queda, Iraq and wherever Islam raises its aggressive head and expounds and promotes it theocracy of superiority. And as with General Eisenhower's Proclamation 1, a clear message must be sent out that no quarter will be given and absolutely no nonsense will be tolerated. Unfortunately, its the only thing the Arabs will understand until they can free themselves from their seventh century yokes and enter the twenty first century as decent citizens of the world. Set Israel free to protect itself and finish the job. Everyone will benefit, including the Palestinians and the Arabs in general.
