Sir;

Your identification of the root cause of the problem and proposed solution make a lot of sense. For the past 10 years we've been engaging in a policy of appeasement...while overlooking the fact that the goal of many (most?) Palestinians is the destruction and dissolution of the "Zioist entity". Any talk of Palestinian statehood is terribly premature....and should be taken completely off the table until circumstances and behaviours warrant otherwise.

In the meantime, we should lean on the rest of the Arab world...and global community to assist the Palestinians get on their own 2 feet in the lands they presently occupy. Otherwise we play into the presumption that they will one day have a state of their own and that Israel will withdraw from lands won during a war in which they were wrongfully attacked. Such a presumption discourages the Palestinians from taking positive action in the present.

The last time we tried appeasement a lot of Jews died as a result, as well.
