Your false assumption.Reader comment on item: Why Oslo's Hopes Turned to Dust Submitted by Sigmund Silber (United States), Sep 10, 2003 at 01:02 You are assuming that the World accepts Jews as being fully human, that the death of a Jew should bother the World as much as the death of any other human being. This is clearly not the case even with someone as wonderful and fair as George Bush. The first step needs to be for the World to decide that Jews need not die quietly for the World to feel comfortable. As long as Jews are expected to die quietly, there will be pressure on Israel to refrain from delivering the lesson the Palestinians so much need to learn. It is not at all clear that the World will be willing to accept Jews as being fully human. Islam clearly rejects this concept as does Europe to a large degree. The Left in the U.S. does not accept Jewish humanness. Even many Jews do not accept it. How else can one explain objection to a defensive fence? As long as the World believes that a dead Jew is preferable to a live Jew, there will be problems in the Middle East and elsewhere since there are many Jews who do not accept this prescription for tranquillity. Jews will continue to take actions to survive and the World will continue to see these actions as inappropriate, excessive, illegal under International Law and just plain uppidy.
