The Sunni-Shia DivideReader comment on item: Arab-Israeli Fatalities Rank 49th Submitted by Richard B. (Canada), Oct 8, 2007 at 22:00 Indeed this is true. The IDF and Hamas (plus Hezbollah to Israel's north) know each other's tactics well. There is nothing either side can do that is going to surprise the other. There's a laissez-faire attitude, a sort of 'business as usual' approach to war that each side takes. In short, it is a static war. Bloody and real, yes, but a static one. The real danger for the people of the ME (and the world) is the fatal dynamic between the Shia and the Sunni. I'm talking about the proxy war that is being waged by the Iranian mullahs against American forces in Iraq. That to me is where the real flashpoint is. A naked and defenceless Iraq represents for Iran a dream come true. It also represents a nightmare of Biblical proportions for the West.
