Alex,

You pose an interesting question. If Bahrain were invaded by Iran I do not believe that the United States would go through the same excercise that it went through in 1991 as such would remind the US of the more recent disasterous incursion into Iraq itself.

The truth is the Anglosphere is at present in a lull in terms of political willpower. The liberal media and education sector have invested heavily in the upcoming albeit low birth rate depleted generation of new westerners. The effect on the configuration of views of the voters entering the political sphere in the US and Australia is thusly slanted leftwards.

Expect a long period of navel gazing - our horizons will shrink and those of our enemies will expand. The shallow bromides of the Chomskiites will represent inalienable unchallengable truths on every campus and with every broadcaster.

Those who are inclined to view things with a degree of positivity will probably look at this trough in our will power as being cyclical. I have a tendency to see it in the same light as Mark Steyn sees Europe as a social democratic quantum singularity sucking us all into a low birth rate - high welfare population and civilisational death cycle.

But I digress. If Iran were to move on Bahrain with an ALP leader Kevin Rudd in charge in Australia (given a defeat of the Conservatives in Nov is almost inevitable), a Democratic Party president in the US (either Barak Obama or Sen Clinton) and Gordon Brown (with his left wing Christ complex in No 10 Downing in Britain) Iran would see little overt resistance from the west.

Homefront.
