Offensive comparison

Reader comment on item: Jihad or Criminality?
in response to reader comment: Islam is not synonymous with violence

I find your comparison and argument offensive, especially after just reading a NYT piece describing how much larger the extent of holocaust camps were. This fatuous argument that we should not discriminate against Muslims because they are a religion (all 1.5 billion) simply rings false.

Millions upon millions of Jews and others were rounded up, tortured and shot, and worse, for no reason whatsoever. They had not attacked, blown up or killed innocent people worldwide on a daily basis. You should rather be very impressed that we countries are so civilized to be so careful not to discriminate or judge all Muslims. It would be justifiable to be perturbed by the numbers of attackers who call themselves Muslim and declare their Islamist intent during and after their attacks on innocent civilians.

Everything sounds wonderful in theory and a utopia where everyone loves and respects each other. Tell that story to the Islamists, not to us. Or do you worry that they don't know any better and are therefore not responsible for their actions?

Bigotry and Islamophobia have nothing to do with anything. People have a right to object to being terrorized and attacked constantly by those who maintain they do it in the name of their religion. Even the US constitution has a clause for religious belief. We are free to practise religion UNLESS we do harm others. I think that classifies, don't you?
