Reader comment on item: Back to the Shores of Tripoli?

Submitted by Jay1 (United States), Mar 13, 2011 at 11:13

My vote is to not send in American bodies to do any fighting for Libyans against Libiyans. We are indeed spread in conflicts, most noteably Iraq and Aftghanastan, where one day we are hero, and the next day, infidels. We,in the Arab middle east, always are hostage to a bizzare saying that I reacal reading. That the Arabs streets mentality is, get out of our country now, and please take us with you. Dr Pipes caution is right.

Yet no fly zones, funding and arms for groups we understand, and some select use of our air power merit an exception. The leader of Libya and his goverment, along with a few other players in that region ,have been a thorn in our sides for a generation. Libya shot down a Pan Am airliner. We need to keep most of our powder dry for a place like Iran. So,my vote again is no on the ground for Americans, more of a yes to the air.
