Is America likely to do something for greater good?

Is America going to support something for the greater good - rather than looking out for its own interest. I somehow doubt it.

This so smacks of the time when people of Iraq rose up against Saddam - but Western Allies failed to help. Thousands died.

In this recent conflict in Iraq its well documented that after conquering Iraq - Oil ministry was well protected where as all the Museums etc. were looted. Donald Rumsfeld came out saying "oh you can't plan for these things" - a ridiculous statement. Considering choice items are likely to end up at the hands of the wealthy.

America's record of helping others for the sake fro the sake of "good" is poor really really poor.
