International "social work cannot be the U.S. government purpose"....

Reader comment on item: Back to the Shores of Tripoli?

Submitted by Arnold L. Goldman (United States), Mar 10, 2011 at 11:22

Regarding "More fundamental is the imperative not to put American troops in harm's way on behalf of humanitarian goals for other peoples; social work cannot be the U.S. government purpose; rather, troops must always forward specific American national interests.

This is extremely well put, and anathema to the American left's view of the use of American military force. They seem to want to use it only when there is no American interest and only when no one might accuse us of having an interest. (No blood for oil!). God forbid, we look out for ourselves!
