Leave them alone

Reader comment on item: Back to the Shores of Tripoli?

Submitted by BA (United States), Mar 10, 2011 at 18:51

I think I would chose doing nothing for the following reasons:

1. US interest is not jeopardized

2. The alternative to Qaddafi is unknown

3. Al-Qaeda or the Muslim Brotherhood could easily gain control and those radicals are much worse than Qaddafi

4. Let the Arab fix their own problems as long as they're contained

5. Chaos in that part of the world is not necessarily bad. Iran and Iraq fought for 8 years or so which kept them busy destroying each other

6. It is a bad idea to help Islamists; you will never be a friend or get credit. They will assume it is Allah who made you does it and you still are the enemy. Remember Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Whether Qaddafi kills his own people or his people kill him; we should not intervene in anyway. If they keep fighting for a long time so be it.
