Q4:34 and beating women

Hi Plato

While replying to Fazel Curmally I noticed that only some translations have a time sequence in Koran 4:34 before a 'dharb' or drubbing can be inflicted on Muslim wives. this is what I wrote to him:

I did post a response but I do not see it so I'm reposting it one more time and by the way it is all present tense

The most important words in this verse are

wa ihjuruhunna fi al-madaaji3i wa idrabuhunna

which i would translate as

and make them emigrate (read this as banish) from the beds and BEAT THEM

Idrabununna means beat them from the root DRB (yadrba means he beats, daraba means he did beat sayadrib means he will beat and yadribu means they beat)

There you go.
