  1. Even if protection was offered to Norris it would still be a response of isolating the offender-of-islam, similar to deserting her which is another form of isolating her. What is striking is the total lack of solidarity, not so much protection.
  2. The internet is not necessary to "direct his american operatives". That was possible 20 years ago with a telephone. The internet is essential to delivering the intimidation to every possible recipient including Norris, that size of audience is essential to produce the lack of solidarity.
  3. The privatization is not on the part of Awlaki using the internet. I see the privatization in the fact that named single individuals are targeted. That is quite new. In a usual war nobody cares which enemy is to be killed. Islamists like Awlaki come up with death warrants for specific private people.
  4. I cannot see how killing Awlaki can be in defense of Norris when a potential killer in America is untouched.
