Strange twist...

Reader comment on item: Away with Crusaders, Crucifixes, Crosses, and Christmas
in response to reader comment: Let's be honest, Islam breeds hate.

There was a time when I held no negative opinions about cultures or religions different from my own. I was raised by parents who appreciated and sought to understand other cultures. When I was growing up, my parents entertained visitors from many areas of the world, including the middle-east.

That was many years ago, and I often wish I could turn back the clock and return to those happy times. Unfortunately, there is no going back, and the joyfully open and accepting attitude I was raised with is only a memory. Today, I view Islam in a different light. When I think of Islam, I remember Daniel Pearl... when I thnk of Islam,

I recall images of a young woman brutally stoned to death... when I think of Islam, I relive that awful day in September that stole the lives and futures of thousands of unsuspecting innocents. I no longer believe in making any concessions of any kind to the demands of those who embrace Islam. Those who embrace Islam might also consider how thoroughly Islam's rabid radicals have succeeded in alienating those who, at one time, might actually have been their friends.
