Dear Lali,

it is not thanks to the Judeo-Christian culture that the West has thrived but the Greco-Roman-Hebrew culture that the west has reawakened. The High point of Christianity in the West spelt a dark period in the Middle Ages in Europe, it was a period and place where any rational arguments, creativity and scientific endeavour were surpressed by the church and clergy. It was only during the renaissance, the rebirth of Greek and Roman learning that Europe rediscovered itself and built upon the progressive and liberal society you mention and which we enjoy the fruits of today. You only have to look at Evangelical Christian communities in the US if you would like to know what Chistian Europe was like in the Middle Ages.

The Inquisition and burning at the stake of women accused of witchcraft was a dark period of European Christianity, as was the downfall of the Roman Empire, brought about by Christian subversion.
