Reader comment on item: That NIE Makes War against Iran More Likely

Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Dec 13, 2007 at 16:10

In an increasingly alarming rate, the stakes of a Middle East nuclear conflict is getting bigger and is going to be determined by who gets to play the final ‘all in' deal. Timing is going to mean everything. Waiting until the chip count is enough to make that big play is going to cost.

Iran does not need to redevelop much of the technology necessary to become nuclear; for is it not all readily available and in the hands of people willing to deal? All they really need is the fissionable material to tip existing delivery systems. If Pakistan can go nuclear, Iran cannot be that far away.

The NIE report is part of the smoke screen to keep prying eyes from seeing too much too early. That the report seems to play a complicit part in Iran's bid for world domination is too easy to see as well. Someone needs to pay attention and not get caught holding anything less than the winning hand against such a high stakes play.

The bells of the early warning system have already gone off. Who's listening?
