We will only help if we're asked nicelyReader comment on item: That NIE Makes War against Iran More Likely Submitted by P Burich (United States), Dec 12, 2007 at 23:50 Since the NIE would have leaked in days anyway if Bush tried to conceal it, his and Cheney's relatively sanguine posture on it can be interpreted a different way: "Look, fellas, we're not going to deal with Iran and live with all the opprobrium and cost like we have with Iraq. We've played it your way for four years of EU-3 and UNSC paddy-cake, and it hasn't done squat. Despite our attempts at pure diplomacy, for four years we've been called war-mongers and worse. "So here's the deal: If you want us to deal with this particular group of crazies...you're going to have to ask us real--and I mean REAL nice. And you're going to have to pony up some dough. And you're going to have to tell everyone that it was YOUR idea, YOUR intel, and that you had to beg the Americans to participate. When you're ready to act like adults, give us a call. If you want the United States to be the world's politlcal lightening rod again, well, then y'all can figure out a way to neutralize those crazy mullahs by yourselves." Merry Christmas! George and Dick
