Tactical vs. StrategicReader comment on item: U.S. to Israel: Do As We Say ... Submitted by Paul M. Neville (United States), Jul 2, 2003 at 22:02 The other explanation is that our war on terror is offensive and strategic while Israel's war with the PA is defensive and tactical. We are invading countries and overthrowing regimes. Our goal is to alter the political and cultural/religious landscape of the Middle East. Israel cannot do this so its tactics must defer to our strategic goals. One byproduct of our invasion and occupation of Iraq is to guarantee the survival of Israel. Israel understands this. This is why it acceeds to the "peace plan". It understands that peace will come from our relentless pressure on and undermining of the terrorist regimes in Iran and Syria. This is not an exercise in logic but war. Hypocrisy is irrelevant.Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
