The American attitude does seem to say "do as we say, not what we do", but, there's a difference I think we're missing here. America might be in a war, and our young people in Iraq are at risk, but our country is not physically IN the war at this point. In other words, were America to suddenly come up with the seeds of a peace plan/cease fire situation with al Qaeda, and Tom Ridge was to find that a HUGE repeat of 9/11 was planned, or that one of the biggest planners of terror planned for America was suddenly spotted, would we ignore the threats or the presence of this criminal and LAY OFF, for the sake of the peace plan? Were NYC or Los Angeles to avert the murder of thousands if we acted in SPITE of the peace plan, would we be condemned for doing that? This is the difference, I think. Israel's very existence is at stake, their cease fire involves THEIR PEOPLE, not some remote war zone their soldiers are fighting.
