I think the worst is over

Daniel Pipes is right to describe the Bush administration's attitude towards israel as somewhat hypocritical. Still, I am fairly optimistic that this so-called roadmap to peace will be successful. Am I being childishly naive? What is so different this time around? Haven't we had our hopes dashed repeatedly in the past? My gut impression is that the removal of Saddam Hussein has brought about a positive paradigm shift in the region. I suspect that the funding to the Islamic extremists is starting to dry up. Alas, we will find out soon enough if I truly know what I'm talking about---or simply making a fool out of myself.
