i appreciate moderate muslims

i so much appreciate this short piece by hamin ahmed. it's so good to hear a moderate muslim voice. i would love to know more about what i would call 'spiritual' islam (apparently aka, 'moderate islam'). in my own life (and i will soon be a senior citizen) i've come to the conclusion that it is the spiritual interpretation of a religion that is important and powerful.

Yet I know from experience that all religions fall into emphasizing the outer forms, people (eg in xty, there was the whole issue of 'apostolic succession' that actually led to war, and there are still rival denominations, etc), and fantasies, really, of world domination. They've all been bitten by that bug. Radical islam is no different from radical christianity as far as that goes. The human race has always had to suffer because of this penchant within us. Love, community, service - these are the true spiritual values.
