Bart only wishes the average evangelical is poorly educated, etc., as he says. He also presumes that having an M.Div. or other advanced degrees equals intelligence. How so many of the people I know with advanced degrees or professional certifications (CPA, etc.) got them is beyond me, considering their inability to think. So many have the uncanny ability to make writings such as the Bible mean something other than what it says when it is clear, that it is no wonder that they make it mean what they want it to mean when the Bible isn't so clear. But it's so much sophistry.
The interpretive characteristics of each category he lists is pretty much correct at the "official" level, plenty of people in the RC and Reformed camps believe much the same as the "backwards" evangelicals as he portrays them, so the beliefs represented by what gets classified as "Christian Zionism" are more widespread than maybe he recognizes?
I don't write because I agree totally with the end-times speculations of the "Christian Zionists." The condescending attitude that isn't supported with anything beyond prejudice and a dislike for the truth that the CZs do proclaim.
