Furether to my comment, I've just heard that what precipatated the anti-Muslim demonstration (which later turned into a riot) was an attack by Muslim youths on 3 life savers, whom they ordred off the beatch on the grounds that they were Australians. Given the high regard that life savers are held in Australia, this is like an attack, say, on Salvation Army officers in North America. These Muslim thugs are now being prosecuted for their attack.

In my view, this racist attack by these Muslim youths against life savers on a public beach, quite apart form their other misbehavior during the last 3 years, alone justifies any peaceful demonstration against this sort of thuggery by non-Muslim Australians. It does not, of course, justify the rioting that was engaged in by a few Australian thugs, but as I said in my last comment, they were much more harshly treated than the Muslim thugs.
