I was shocked by the absolute male chauvinistic comment submitted in this article!! Since when it becomes a custom and a law for the western women to wear tank tops and short shorts ? It is just a product of so called fashion and dress desingning industry dominated by male chauvinists who want to see their women wearing less and even lesser, just as the writer of the article mentions about what he likes to watch, and prefers to call it a custom and a law from where he belongs.
Look back 50 years and you will know how the women of the west used to dress. Travel back another 50 years in time and you will see the western women wearing some kind of head scarves as well. So, please dont call semi naked designer apparels as your "custom" or "law". If not convinced with this argument you may want to visit a local church or a synagogue, consult your priest and enlighten yourself about the dress customs of the ladies of the west.
Regarding countries where they prefer to abide by a more decent dress code for locals and foreign visitors alike, they are just wanting their people to keep a more dignified posture when they move around in society... just as a five star restaurant in the most liberated western country won't allow a man or a woman in shorts and T shirt...so to create a more dignified atmosphere for all present within their premises.
I hope my comments will not be treated as a "typical response" !
