legality of banning burka

Pity that a hindu living in US asks such a question.

Hiding one's identity in public is dangerous.

Men learn to respect women better if women are not presented as temptresses to be banned or kept covered. Men who see the female body from their childhood onwards are less likely to disrespect them and their special feminine needs and restrictions.

It is not a question of legality - which often limps far behind reality.

A veiled muslim woman is making a political announcement- whether she knows it or not. She is announcing the coming of those men who wish to push women back into harems and kitchens.

A woman who wears the veil out of obedience to some divine authority or voice is not doing it voluntarily. She is doing it out of fear. The word voluntary (a much misunderstood and misused word) has a different meaning than what the propagandists of islam would like us to believe. The veil is part of islam,s fascistic battle against non-islamic values, freedoms and identities. Some muslim women have realised this and hope that the non-muslims do not let them down.

What really lurks behind the veil is not just the face of a muslim woman but the advancement of islamic fascism, misogyny, machoism and imperialist zeal. Just find out carefully which muslims are lamenting the ,,lack of freedom,, to wear the veil - as if islam is the great harbinger of all kinds of wonderful freedoms!
