The two faces of Islam - Read the book "23 Years" by Ali Dashti to understand Islam by understanding its development

The codes for dress and behavior in our Islam customs come from the words in the Koran. The words in the Koran are the words spoken by Muhammad. The verses in the Koran are not in the order spoken by Muhammad. They were re-ordered with the shortest first, longest last to make it easy to memorize. This means they are not in context. If they were in the order spoken, then it would be easier to understand why they were spoken. Read the book 23 Years by Ali Dashti to know the detailed development of Islam and the Koran. You will then understand why Islam has two faces. One face is the benevolent good neighbor. The other face is the fierce and feared neighbor who is to kill those who do not believe the same as them. Read and know.
