Reader comment on item: How the Cartoon Protests Harm Muslims
in response to reader comment: GOOD EXCUSE

Gabriel, you are very right in your statement that we in the U.S. are very concerned about the connection between illegal immigration and terrorism. There is concern that terrorists could come across the borders from either Canada or Mexico, but especially from Mexico because that border is so out of control. There is also concern that people who came here legally overstay their visas and then disappear into the population and we don't know where they are or what they are up to.

In the case of the Muslim immigrants to Europe, it is my opinon that Europeans should insist on assimilation instead of the "multiculturalism." It's fine for immigrants to respect their heritage, but they should adopt their host countries core values and have respect for its traditions and culture. And I think the Europeans need to be more assertive in insisting that they do this instead of bending to pressure to adapt to the Muslims values and way of life. You know the old saying, "When in Rome do as the Romans do." Don't let the Muslims make you feel guilty because you want to maintain your own culture. Europeans should not have to commit cultural suicide to prove their "tolerance." Respect is a two way street.
