To Octavio: immigrants who refuse to assimilate are the problemReader comment on item: How the Cartoon Protests Harm Muslims Submitted by Richard Lion heart (United States), Feb 24, 2006 at 16:48 Like the United States, Europe as millions of illegal immigrants. However the difference between the illegals in the U.S and the Illegal muslim immigrants in Europe, is the fact those in the U.S desperately want to assimilate. The U.S is a country of immigrants. Each American can trace back his/her roots to Europe, Africa or Latin America. The immigrants in the U.S are mostly Christians and contribute billions of Dollars to the U.S economy. The problem with muslim immigrants is their refusal to show gratitude to Christian countries that give them refuge. More than anybody else they should be the champions of freedom and democracy having found safe haven in western countries. Instead what we see is hatred and ingratitude toward the host countries. That example was most vivid when some of them danced in the streets of New York after the 9/11 attacks. That scene was sickning. If muslims hate western culture and civilization so much why do they keep coming to the west in ever increasing numbers. I think muslims in the west would do themselves a lot of good if they learn to be grateful and appreciative to countries that give them hospitality.
