Trump raised the right issue and he gets my vote for this reason

Reader comment on item: What's Trump's Policy on Visas for Muslims?

Submitted by Prashant (United States), Aug 19, 2016 at 01:53

Dear Dr Pipes,

One reason alone that will justify why Trump deserves to be the president is the fact that he brought the issue of Islamic politics into the forefront. When religion and politics are as intertwined as they are in Islam, no one knows how to ban one without banning the other. And, no one knows how to protect one without protecting the other the other. When politics hides so well under the under the umbrella of religion, it takes a person as courageous or as crazy as Mr Trump to bring the issue to the forefront. It does not matter if Mr Trump's position is varying every day. We know that there is a problem: an entity that wants to expand Islam politically can masquerade as a religious entity. But we do not know what the solution to this problem is. Mr Trump identified this as the problem without mincing any words. It is no shame that he does not know how to deal with this problem. No one does. Let us talk about the problem incessantly and we will find a solution. If we keep hiding the problem under the rug, it will swallow us.

Mr Trump gets my vote in November because he brought this issue to limelight.
