Reader comment on item: What's Trump's Policy on Visas for Muslims?

Submitted by Joe (Canada), Aug 17, 2016 at 15:06

Your advice to "ban Islamists, not Muslims," is a bit like saying "ban oak trees, but not acorns." You have NO control over when a Muslim chooses to become an Islamist. Individuals falling into the category of "home grown terrorists" are not managed by vetting, unless their parents had been barred entry. Vetting doesn't work because lying is too easy.

Should Muslims be allowed to come to the US, or to any other democracy? Take a look at the mess in Scandinavian countries and in every country in Europe where Muslims have been permitted to flourish. Riots, violence and destruction everywhere. Hate speech from Imams speaking against the countries that embraced them; calling for jihad, Sharia law and takeover. Cair trying to ban all criticism of Islam, and some people seem dumb enough to listen to this terrorist group. Countries with fewer Muslims are more stable than countries with a high Muslim population. And Muslim countries are all dictatorships.

Daniel Pipes replies:

Yes, this is a problem. But if you ban all Muslims, you face a similar problem, namely fake conversions to Christianity.
