Pragmatism

Reader comment on item: What's Trump's Policy on Visas for Muslims?

Submitted by Wallace Schwam (United States), Aug 17, 2016 at 15:25

What has the "Policy Wonks" so upset is that all of their theories and white papers have failed. Not only failed but failed miserably. So now someone comes along that says "hey, if you want a good pair of shoes, keep trying them on until you get a pair that fit". That's not stupid. In fact, it's brilliant! Regrets to the so called "Experts" who feel they're entitled to dictate the size and brand we're all supposed to wear.
Trump is a Pragmatist and he'll keep at it until it's right.

Daniel Pipes replies:

I am a conservative unhappy with the Obama administration. I also had differences with George W. Bush, Clinton, and so on. But to dismiss these and other politicians as having "failed" strikes me as foolish populism. What, I wonder, would constitute "success"?

And how is an ignorant narcissist with no political experience going to be the savior of the country? The whole drift here disturbs me.
