[Russia's plans in the Syrian-Turkish-Iraqi scramble may not be clear; but their long-term strategy is:]
...to take back what they lost last century, the prestige and form of the second most powerful nation of the twentieth century.

Only this time, being second is not only no longer acceptable, they may not be second for very long.

We'll let the theorists mull on that one for a while; but not too long, Damascus is waiting.........
