Yes, Mike, you are correct in that Islam adopted many Judaic teachings when Muhammad attempted to sway the Jewish people to accept him as a "prophet". However, as you say, Islam has revised several of those Judaic teachings. One example (of many) is of the Red Heiffer that Moses was instructed to find for the sacrificial offering (Numbers 19:1-9). The Qu'ran indicates that Moses was instructed to find a heiffer of "Yellow" (or taupe) color. This became a "red flag" warning to the Jewish people when Muhammad tried to convince them that he was a "prophet of God". Here is that specific text from the Qur'an:

[Moses told the people] "...she is a yellow cow. Bright is her color." (Chapter of The Cow: Qur'an 2.069)

Not to worry. Orthodox Rabbis still believe that an unblemished Red Heiffer is the acceptable one. :)
