Hi Mark

Yes first cousin marriages is in the Qur'an and it is shocking and for this see Q33:50 where it says

يايها النبي انا احللنا ازواجك blah..blah....blah وبنت عمك وبنت عمتك وبنت خالك وبنت خلتك blah...blah...blah

Or O prophet we (Allah that is) have made it lawful for you to pair (plural and read this as having wives) that are the daughters of you uncle or aunt on your father's side and the daughters of your uncle and aunt on your mother side

It is in black and white Allah is promoting consanguinity.

What a disaster

And here is al-Tabari's exegesis of this little disaster use googletranslate and it very interesting because you will also discover that in the same verse Allah has no difficulty with slavery

Here is what Ibn kathir says about this disaster

فَأَبَاحَ بِنْت الْعَمّ وَالْعَمَّة وَبِنْت الْخَال وَالْخَالَة

Or: He (Allah) allowed the marriage to the daughter of the uncle or aunt on the father's side and the marriage to the daughter of the uncle or aunt on the mother's side and he (Allah that is) t

It is really in black and white
