Teaching of Quran should be banned

Reader comment on item: What Are Islamic Schools Teaching?

Submitted by A. Woods (United States), Mar 30, 2005 at 14:45

In 1984, a petition was filed in the indian Highcourt, Calcutta, requesting banning teaching the quran under Indian Penal Codes, sections 153A and 295A which is the prohibition of publication of materials promoting disharmony, feeling of enmity, hatred and ill will between different religious communities, inciting people to commit violence. The petitioners quoted all violent and hateful quranic verses in their application (bharatvani.org).

This move was blocked by the indian govrnment under heavy pressure from the muslim lobby.

I think teaching of quran should be banned in american Islamic schools since it promotes hatred of fellow humans of different faith.
