Reader comment on item: The Temple Mount's Indian counterpart

Submitted by Prashant (United States), Aug 5, 2012 at 21:55

Dear Dr Pipes:

I stumbled upon your article entitled 'The Temple Mount's Indian Counterpart'. You wrote that article more than 11 years ago on January 17, 2001. Your article raises some tough questions about Islamic tendency to assert supremacy through architecture (I will quote from your article: "Moslems have habitually asserted the supremacy of Islam through architecture, building on top of the monuments of other faiths.").

In the eleven years that this article has existed, some objective Muslim intellectual must have read your article. This intellectual should have made an effort to either objectively replied to your criticism or should have courageously apologized for Islams transgressions. But neither did happen. I have seen that Muslims do not answer tough questions. They just keep quiet. Objective intellectualism is completely missing in the Islamic world.
